Adwords New Interface Becomes Permanent, Old Interface Retires

Google Adwords new interface was made available to Adwords advertisers for months and has recently been out of Beta. Now it is time Google reminds you that the old Adwords interface will no longer be available:

***Important news regarding your account***

We’re writing to let you know that your AdWords account (Customer Id: XXX-XXX-XXXX) will be upgraded to the new AdWords interface within the next few business days. After that time, you’ll no longer be able to switch back to the previous AdWords interface to manage your campaigns. The new interface doesn’t change how ads run, so bidding, ranking, Quality Score, and the rest of ad serving will remain the same after the upgrade.

We think you’ll like how AdWords has changed to meet your needs. Campaign management is now more efficient, with tools and reports that are easier to find and use. We’ve continued to add features and controls based on advertiser feedback, and now the new interface is ready to use exclusively.

While the new Adwords interface is still new, Google has been frequently adding new features to it.

I’ve hit a brick wall with the new Adwords interface. I’m no longer able to enter in unique destination URLs per keyword into the new Adwords Interface such as the following:

Band of Brothers Audiobook ** (URL for this audiobook)
Molecules of Emotion Audiobook ** (URL for this audiobook)
Benjamin Franklin Audiobook ** (URL for this audiobook)
    ETC.

So for each keyword it takes users to the adjoining destination URL (as opposed to the overall destination URL for the Ad Group). We used to be able to do this in the old interface and that is how we entered in almost all of our keywords. But with this new interface it says this is invalid for a keyword and I couldn’t figure out how to do it in Adwords Editor either. And I can’t access the old Adwords interface now. Grrr!

Our entire Adwords campaign was designed around entering in keywords with their destination URLs en masse like so:

Band of Brothers Audiobook ** (URL for this audiobook)
Molecules of Emotion Audiobook ** (URL for this audiobook)
Benjamin Franklin Audiobook ** (URL for this audiobook)
    ETC.

We had created a whole script on our back end that auto-generates all the keywords and their corresponding destination URL. Why does Google remove functionality with the update of their Adwords interface? I thought the whole point of an update was to add and improve functionality? Grrr. Is there any other way to add keywords with their destination URLs en masse?

Here’s Google Supports official answer to me.

“Thank you for your reply. I apologize for the delayed response and for the
frustration you have been experiencing. I’m sorry to let you know that
with the new interface, you will not able to upload in bulk keyword level
    URLs with different destination URLs.”

BOOO the New Adwords interface! It’s worse than New Coke! We want Adwords Classic back! I’ll update this if anything changes but for now BOOOOO! Isn’t there anyone else out there that used this feature?! Why have you forsaken us Google?! Why must you prevent us from giving you advertising dollars?! BOOOOOOO!
