China Internet Sites to Mourn Earthquake Victims

The major Chinese websites turned the main theme (colour) of their home pages into black and white today for the memories of victims who died in the earthquake on 12 May 2008. Sites participated in the mourning include search engines like Baidu, Google China, and Yahoo China, portals such as Sina and Sohu, and China’s largest C2C site Taobao.com.

The earthquake happened in Sichuan province on 12 May has been the worst to hit China since 1976. Up till today the death toll of the quake has gone over 34,000 and some 245,000 people were believed injured in the disaster.
