Chinese Programmers Hacked Skype Protocol
Early in July when a group of Chinese programmers successfully hacked Skype’s protocol, security concerns about the popular VoIP software were raised. Later the month, an insider disclosed that the objective of the group of Chinese programmers in cracking the code was not to pirate Skype, but rather to develop a free, more efficient, and safer P2P communication platform that will incorporate multiple protocols. Besides technologies, other challenges that will be faced by the group of Chinese programmers include catching up with the large existing Skype user base.
