So Gordon, you didn’t elaborate though, Would I still need to get it hosted in Hong Kong or Macau for faster downloads. Also i would want to have the website translated to Chinese as I am interested in selling digital information products online.

Phil, you don’t need Chinese approval to have your site show up on Baidu or other Chinese search engines.

Irrelevant links from an irrelevant site will pass juice and anchor text as long as Google doesn’t suspect that the intent of the link is search engine manipulation.

In short, lack of relevancy might make Google’s detective work a little easier, but there’s no reason for Google to devalue an editorial link just because it points to an off-topic site

Gordon, is it correct that I haev to get Chinese approval to have a website show up in the search engines. Is there a way to bypass and get a domain from macau or Hong kong and still have it searchable
in China. I have a desire to sell information products to the Chinese

Honestly, a Mozilla/Yahoo teamup would have been better. Although they don’t compete with each other (former only has browser and latter is a search engine) they both compete against Microsoft (who rolled out its Bing search engine) and Google (who introduced its own browser). That would have given us a major third option against the duopoly

So very true about social integration into the search engines. With Google leaning heavily on signals from Google+, Bing seems to be digging even deeper into integration with Facebook. This is going to be a very interesting year for internet marketing!

After permanent closure of yahoo search explorer I don’t think there is any other tool in such a great accuracy available to find out the backlinks of the website in detail. Hope Yahoo search explorer will be re-activated soon.

I’ve got a question does the same country top level domain name matter or same country hosting if its in a relatively low competetion country for the given search term? I’m asking because I live in Peru and a .com.pe or .pe costs like $55 a year compared to a regular .com which is like $10. Also I’ve already got hosting with host gator Any suggestions?
