Testing Google Keyboard Shortcuts

I enabled “Keyboard Shortcuts” today, which is one of the features available to users from Google Experimental Search. Google’s Keyboard Shortcuts allows you to navigate Google’s natural search results, and move between search results and Google’s search box with only your keyboard. Effectively this feature reduces the use of your mouse.

There are a total 3 different experiments available. The other 2 experiments are “Keyword Suggestions” (similar to Yahoo’s search assist) and “Alternate Views for Search Results”. You can only join any one of the 3 experiments at a time, but you can simply disable one experiment and then enable the other one right away.

Google are also running a labs test on Gmail (http://www.intology.com/computers-internet/google-introduces-13-new-features-in-gmail/), with new features, but currently its not available to all users.

As for the other lab experiments, i was a little curious by the ’search for visually impaired’. Who knows what kind of ideas that kind of thinking creates. Awesome stuff.
