Unfortunately, the free version does not provide search volume data and additional data for the keywords that are suggested.

You will have to subscribe to the paid version for all the data that includes:

  • Search volume: It is the average number of times people search for this exact keyword per month. The metric helps you understand how popular the keyword is.
  • Trend: It shows how the monthly search volume for a keyword has changed over the last 12 months.
  • CPC: It is cost per click (in US$) which is estimated sum of money that advertisers are paying to bid on this keyword on Google AdWords (Ads). The metric helps to identify how lucrative the keyword is.
  • Competition: It is the number of advertisers bidding on each keyword relative to all keywords across Google. The metric helps you understand how competitive the keyword is. Competition is low when the values are in the range of 0-34, medium (35-69), and high (70-100).

Google Autocomplete and Google Suggest

google-suggest-google-autocomplete.png
Autocomplete is a feature provided by Google. When you start entering a keyword in Google search, the Google Autocomplete feature automatically provides keyword suggestions (or search terms) that are based on the letters you are typing. This helps speeding up the searches performed on Google by the users.

An example is when you start typing “Neil Patel”, Google Autocomplete suggests more keywords including:

  • neil patel seo
  • neil patel wiki
  • neil patel seo 2020
  • neil patel seo guide
  • neil patel’s
  • neil patel keyword
  • neil patel company
  • neil patel avalon
  • neil patel book

Google knows exactly how frequently users search for any specific search term. The search terms that are more often being searched on Google by users are the search terms that are more likely going to appear under Google Suggest through Autocomplete.

For the search term you have specify, KeywordTool.io can generate long-tail keyword suggestions by prepending and appending with different letters and numbers. The tool enters the appended and prepended search terms into Google search and extracts a large number of keyword suggestions.

This could have taken you several hours when you are to manually extract all the keyword suggestions. But KeywordTool.io gets it done in a few seconds.

KeywordTool.io vs. Google Keyword Planner

Why is keywordTool.io a better keyword tool than Google Keyword Planner (i.e. Adwords keyword tool)?

To use the Google Keyword Planner tool, you are required to first register a Google Adwords (Ads) account. You may use your Gmail to register, or create a new Gmail.

Google Keyword Planner provides keyword data including:

  • Avg. monthly searches (i.e. average from the past 12 months)
  • Competition (e.g. Low, Medium, High)
  • Ad impression share
  • Top of page bid (low range)
  • Top of page bid (high range)

Google Keyword Planner provides keywords mostly with relatively higher search volume, but it does not show many other keywords with lower search volume.

The lower search volume keywords could have accumulated a relatively large search volume. They are the long tail keywords for your website to get SEO traffic from Google and other search engines organically.

KeywordTool.io Pro can generate up to 20 keywords per search term on Google, 25 keywords on YouTube, 25 keywords on Bing, 10 keywords on Amazon, 10 keywords on eBay, and 5 keywords on Google Play Store. Within these keyword suggestions, many of them are long tailed keywords for your website’s SEO.

On average this gives you two times more keyword suggestions (including long tail keywords with high search volume and low competition) than Adwords keyword tool.

The keywords suggested by Google KeywordTool.io can complement one another. By merging the keywords from both tools, you will end up with a comprehensive keyword list for your niche (or industry).

How to Use KeywordTool.io for Website SEO?

One method when using KeywordTool.io for your website’s search engine optimization (SEO) is to create content with the suggested keywords.

  • Enter a core (or generic) keyword of your niche into the KeywordTool.io tool, and you will quickly get a list of keyword suggestion.
  • Prioritize the suggested keywords based on the highest search volume and the lowest competition.
  • Add the keywords to the content of your web pages based on the above priorities.

When following this approach, you are adding the relevant keywords to your website content. This is a good start when increasing Google SEO traffic to your site and improving the values of your content for your website visitors.

How to use KeywordTool.io for Google Ads?

As explained before, Google Keyword Tool is unable to provide many long tail keywords (that may have users searching for). When setting up your Google AdWords ad groups, you should add the KeywordTool.io generated keywords to your keyword list.

I have written this AdWords optimization checklist which you should go through when setting up and launching your campaigns on Google AdWords.

Conclusions

KeywordTool.io provides long tail keywords that are difficult (or impossible) to get from Google Keyword Planner (or AdWords keyword tool).

The keywords generated from Google Suggest when using KeywordTool.io can complement with the keywords that are generated through Google Keyword Planner.

The combined list of keywords can be used to:

  • Improve Google SEO ranking of your website when they are appropriated added to the content of your web pages.
  • Improve the reach of your Google AdWords ads by covering more possible user queries.

The free version of KeywordTool.io provides a list of Google Suggest keywords without other insightful data for the keywords.

The paid version (i.e. KeywordTool.io Pro) provides comprehensive keyword lists with useful metrics including search volume, trend, CPC and competition.

You may try Ubersuggest which is a free SEO keyword tool (with this Ubersuggest guide). The tool lets you find new keywords, new content ideas, top pages on competitor websites, backlinks of competitor websites, and more.
